OVERLAND PARK, KS — Ahead of its annual convention to be held June 20-24 in Bluffton, SC, BEMA has announced the winner of its Ascend convention scholarship.
Jasmine Monette, quality and continuous improvement manager for Lallemand Baking North America, will attend the convention on behalf of her company as this year’s scholarship winner.
Criteria for the scholarship includes being a first-time attendee to the convention and an employee of a BEMA member company in good standing. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstration of leadership and desire to gain industry knowledge and education.
Audrey St. Onge, president of Lallemand Baking North America, nominated Monette.
“Leadership development is at the core of everything we do,” St. Onge said. “Jasmine joined the Lallemand Baking team in 2019 and started in a marketing role. Since then, she has blossomed into many areas of the business, where she has expanded her knowledge of the business and the industry. With her growth mindset, her understanding of the nutritional functionalities of the products we produce, and her strength in communication, her future is very bright.”
Monette will attend all convention activities and receive special recognition during the general membership meeting.
The BEMA Ascend scholarship launched in 2022 as a way to introduce up-and-coming industry professionals to the opportunities available to BEMA member companies, as well as further their industry education and professional development.
“It is our greatest hope that Jasmine will get to experience the BEMA comradery that comes from getting to know industry peers in a social, family-friendly environment,” said Kelly Allen, BEMA’s senior manager for membership and meetings. “BEMA is proud to offer a space where bakers and suppliers can come together to learn and network.”
