WORTHINGTON, MN — Optimizing efficiencies using cost-effective solutions is always a top priority for food manufacturers. Bedford Industries, a leading twist tie and automation manufacturer, kept this in mind when seeking ways to expand its portfolio.

Earlier this year, the company acquired Tach-It, a leading provider of entry-level automated packaging solutions including labeling, sealing and closing.

“Tach-It was a natural fit for us on several levels,” said Jay Scheidt, Bedford’s business development manager. “The acquisition brings together two very complementary areas of expertise. Bedford has spent decades building a reputation as a leading manufacturer of twist ties, packaging closures and the automation that supports them, while Tach-It is a trusted provider of entry-level automation equipment. Customers now have access to a broader portfolio of solutions from a single partner.”

In the short-term, Bedford is focused on ensuring a seamless experience for customers, distributors and suppliers. Over the next few months, Scheidt said the company will integrate teams, products and services to make it easier for customers to conduct business with them.

“Our goal is to build on what’s already working well and create an even stronger experience for customers moving forward,” he added.

Scheidt cited choice and accessibility as the two biggest customer benefits to be realized from the acquisition.

“Many companies want to improve efficiency, but they aren’t ready to make a major investment in large-scale automation,” he said. “Tach-It has a strong reputation for offering practical, cost-effective equipment that helps customers take that first step. They can also draw on Bedford’s expertise as a twist-tie manufacturer and automation provider. That combination gives customers access to the consumables and equipment expertise needed to support their operations today and as they grow.”

Moving forward, Bedford intends to integrate Tach-It’s product offerings into broader automation solutions, enabling customers to implement entry-level automation now and scale into other solutions as business demands grow.

“We’re excited about the opportunities ahead and are committed to building on the strengths of the Tach-It brand while expanding the value we provide to customers,” Scheidt said. “The positive transition we’ve experienced so far — including retaining talented Tach-It employees and maintaining strong customer relationships — gives us a great deal of confidence about the future.”
