HORSHAM, PA — Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU), the US branch of Mexico City-based Grupo Bimbo, released a summary of the company’s achievements this year as they align with its pillars: Baked for You, Baked for Life and Baked for Nature.

In 2024, the company equipped 100% of its branded product packaging with SmartLabel, a QR code that offers consumers the most up-to-date ingredient lists as well as product information and insights. BBU also leaned into increasing consumer interest in better-for-you products with the release of nine new products with healthier ingredients. This includes Sara Lee Artesano Hawaiian Bakery Bread and Buns and Little Bites Lower Sugar Mini Muffins.

The baking company continued its partnership with Feeding America, donating approximately 25 million pounds of products to food banks nationwide. BBU also continued its DEI initiatives by supporting nonprofit organizations such as Careers Through Culinary Arts Program and UNCF (United Negro College Fund) to bolster underserved communities through advancing economic opportunities, education and health.

After it introduced its Volunteer Time Off policy at the close of 2023, BBU team members have contributed more than 300 volunteer hours to local nonprofits. Additionally, over 1,000 company associates participated in service events held throughout the year.

BBU has also made strides toward sustainability. In Q1, the company partnered with GreenStruxure to launch on-site microgrid systems at six bakeries in California, which provide 20% of the baking company’s energy usage. Through a partnership with Harbinger, BBU expanded its electric fleet, which brings it closer to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,
