WASHINGTON, DC — With a new administration taking the reins in 2025, the American Bakers Association’s (ABA) upcoming webinar will offer bakers insights on President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff proposals and their impact.
Set for Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. CT, “2025 Tariffs – What to Expect” will provide a summary of the tariff proposals, the legal authorities that could be used to implement said tariffs, potential retaliatory responses from US trade partners and overall how this will impact businesses that ship product across the US.
“ABA members are closely watching as President-elect Trump has expressed his intention to implement a range of tariff measures, including a 25 percent tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, a 60 percent tariff on imports from China, and 10-20 percent tariffs on all other US imports,” said Rasma Zvaners, VP of government relations at ABA. “Our Jan. 9 webinar will help educate members on these proposed tariffs, the legal authorities President-elect Trump might use to implement them, the role of Congress, and potential actions from US trade partners. Given the impact these changes could have on our members, many of whom are involved in cross-border shipments and global sourcing, it’s crucial that they stay informed.”
The webinar will feature Kate McNulty, a senior associate in the Washington office of Covington & Burling LLP. In her role, she provides legal and strategic counsel on international trade, investment and global policy issues. McNulty also advises trade associations, governments and companies on leveraging treaties to open markets and resolve disputes.
