WASHINGTON, DC — In conjunction with National Ag Day, the American Bakers Association (ABA), alongside 31 other food and agriculture organizations, released the eighth annual “Feeding the Economy” report.

“The ‘Feeding the Economy’ report affirms the vital role the food and agriculture sector plays in our nation’s economy,” said Eric Dell, ABA president and CEO. “It’s a testament to the hard work and resilience of everyone involved in this industry, from the farm to the bakery and beyond.”

The report revealed that food and agriculture contribute more than $9.6 trillion to the US economy or about 20% of the country’s total output. Food and agriculture also account for more than 15% of US employment, directly supporting nearly 24 million jobs.

“Feeding the Economy” includes insights on jobs, wages and economic output as well as highlights food and agriculture’s economic impact on a local and national scale.
