MINNEAPOLIS — A major investment from Rise Baking Co., a baked goods manufacturer for in-store bakeries and foodservice, positions the company to further optimize its production network and increase pie production capacity.

The company announced the expansion of its Pleasant View, UT, facility, adding 115,000 square feet of new manufacturing space to the 142,000-square-foot commercial bakery. The bakery — which specializes in cookies and icings — will also receive several infrastructure updates, including advanced wastewater management systems and energy-saving efficiencies.

Rise shared that the investment will create 170 new jobs in the region.

“This expansion is about building a smarter, more efficient manufacturing network that better supports our customers today and positions us for the future,” said Mark McNeil, CEO of Rise Baking. “By further investing in Pleasant View, we’re optimizing our pie production footprint while creating additional footprint and capacity to support future growth, strengthening our ability to deliver the quality and consistency our customers rely on.”

This investment falls under the organization’s strategy to streamline its footprint, concentrating capacity and production to better serve its myriad customers.

As part of this move, the baking company will be further consolidating its manufacturing operations in the coming months. Rise will be closing its Kent, WA, bakery facility as part of the strategy. To support the employees impacted by this decision and their families, the company is providing a severance and retention package aligned with the longevity of their time with Rise. Additionally, the company is offering opportunities for these individuals to pursue other roles within the organization.

The expansion project is expected to be completed sometime this year.
