Mark McNeil announced as CEO of Rise Baking

MINNEAPOLIS — Rise Baking Co. is now under new leadership with Mark McNeil stepping in as CEO of the baking company.

This appointment comes at a key time for the company, which is co-owned by Platinum Equity and Butterfly Equity as of 2024.

“We believe Mark is exactly the kind of leader who can help accelerate Rise’s next chapter,” said Nathan Eldridge, managing director at Platinum Equity. “His experience scaling large, complex food businesses, combined with his focus on people, operational excellence and customer partnerships, aligns perfectly with our ambition to expand Rise both organically and through strategic M&A. We are thrilled to welcome him.”

He succeeds Brian Zellmer, who is stepping back from the role after five years.

“It’s been the honor of my career to lead Rise Baking,” Zellmer said. “I’m incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished, and I have full confidence in the team as Mark and the company enter its next chapter of growth.”

McNeil joins the company from Shearer’s Foods, where he served as CEO of the private label and co-manufacturer of assorted salty snacks, cookies and crackers.

He brings with him a wealth of leadership experience spanning retail, foodservice and manufacturing. With a strong background in the c-suite, McNeil is well positioned to support Rise Baking’s future growth.
