YORK, PA — Stauffer’s, the creator of one of the first animal crackers in the US, announced the upcoming release of a modernized version of its classic product.
The new animal cracker variety, Stauffer’s Simply Animals, is peanut-free and has no high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors or flavors.
“Category managers have responded very favorably when we’ve presented Simply Animals,” said Ken Vlazny, senior VP of sales and marketing at Stauffer’s. “Our consumer research was very positive during the development of the brand. We’re now looking forward to observing how the shopper reacts in the market.”
The updated formula will be market-tested at Food City and Weis Markets stores beginning in January with two flavor options: Chocolate and Original. The Original variety will be available in a 16-oz. bag and 12-count single-serve multipack, while the Chocolate offering will be available in a 14.5-oz. bag.
“We are excited to weave Simply Animals into the 150+ year Stauffer’s story and cannot wait to reveal more updates with snacking fans across the US,” said Geoffrey Guilfoile, brand manager at Stauffer’s.
