PENNSAUKEN, NJ — Global bakery ingredient supplier Puratos has created an immersive experience designed to educate customers with the complexities of the fruit supply chain.

The Fruit Experience grants participants an inside look at the Michigan cherry’s journey from field to fork. The attendees will experience an active cherry harvest, witness how said cherries are processed and sample an assortment of fruity desserts created from consumer trends.

“Visitors also learn about the growing power of fruit to deliver against consumer demands for sustainable and better-for-you ingredients,” said Jessica Blondeel, product director for sweet goods at Puratos.

The behind-the-scenes opportunity is designed for industrial bakers to learn about the fruit supply chain and use the new knowledge of the harvest cycles to optimize their own supply chain. Throughout the Fruit Experience, expert technical advisors will be available to display the versatility of fruit fillings and how it can resolve production challenges such as clean label, performance and taste.

“Our proprietary Taste Tomorrow research shows that consumers are increasingly focused on holistic health and sustainability, seeking out ingredients that feed their emotional, physical and mental wellbeing,” Blondeel continued. “The Fruit Experience is a great way to train buyers, R&D and even senior executives to understand the power of fruit fillings to deliver the nutrition, flavor and storytelling consumers want while increasing operational efficiency for manufacturers.”

Puratos offers similar fruit tours in Canada, Latvia, Belgium and the UK. The addition of the Fruit Experience in the US offers manufacturers an opportunity for growth in the category.
