RICHMOND, VA — Mondelez International celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Richmond Biscuit Manufacturing Plant with a ceremony attended by elected officials, company leadership, and local employees and their families.
Beginning operations in 1973, the Richmond bakery has served as a staple in Mondelez’ US manufacturing network by supporting the production of key cookies and crackers which includes brands such as OREO, Chips Ahoy!, Nilla Wafers, RITZ and Wheat Thins. About 650 employees operate the Richmond facility, more than half of the company’s overall operations workforce in Virginia.
“I’m proud to recognize this 50-year anniversary with the many tenured employees at our Richmond Biscuit Manufacturing Plant,” said Katie Ingersoll, senior plant director of Mondelez International. “Together, we celebrate this milestone and move into the next decades of snacking leadership as Mondelez continues to invest in its US manufacturing network.”
