KANSAS CITY, KS — Tippin’s Gourmet Pies, a supplier to supermarket in-store bakeries nationwide, has launched a new featured gourmet program and a value line called Heartland Pies.
“We’re known throughout the country for our cream pies, and offering these special pies as a limited-time feature is a great way to introduce Tippin’s products to customers,” said Jim Antrup, Tippin’s VP of sales and marketing.
Pies in the gourmet lineup are finished and ready to stock in the refrigerated or frozen case of the in-store bakery.
Peanut Butter Silk is made with layers of peanut butter pudding, chocolate French Silk and real whipped cream, then drizzled chocolate and peanut butter. It is available as an 8-inch, 31.5-oz. pie.
Chocolate Banana Cream — a new variety for Tippin’s — is made with a creamy chocolate filling with the essence of banana and topped with real whipped cream, then sprinkled with cinnamon crumb toping and drizzled with chocolate. It is available in as an 8-inch, 31-oz. pie.
Bananas Foster has a flaky crust and is layered with caramel, banana cream pudding and real whipped cream, then drizzled with caramel and butter-crumb topping. It is available as an 8-inch, 34-oz. pie.
“We’re known throughout the country for our cream pies, and offering these special pies as a limited-time feature is a great way to introduce Tippin’s products to customers,” said Jim Antrup, Tippin’s VP of sales and marketing.
The new Chocolate Banana Cream variety was inspired by a homemade favorite and was developed last year after the operation had experimented with various line efficiencies. The result was a pie that was extremely well-received after the bakery sent samples out to several customers to enjoy while on Zoom meetings during the pandemic.
The flavors in the gourmet program are traditional favorites brought together in new and creative ways.
“These aren’t really new flavors, but these new combinations create excitement for our customers and their consumers,” Antrup said. “It’s a way to create excitement and have something new to look forward to.”
All three pies in the gourmet program will be available in late summer and early fall. “Offering these pies as a limited-time-only bakery item also builds more excitement for Tippin’s holiday pies,” Antrup said.
The program is available with custom point-of-sale signage as well as social media resources to boost promotion.
The Heartland Pies series are also fully baked and ready to sell, available year-round. Fruit pie varieties include Apple, Cherry and Blueberry in an 8-inch,24-oz. size. The line is also available Pecan, Pumpkin and Sweet Potato varieties.
“Heartland Pies are a quality pie designed for value-conscious shoppers,” Antrup said. “We make it easy for retailers to offer tasty, ready-to-sell pies to increase sales in the in-store bakery.”
The Heartland series is the new generation of value offerings for Tippin’s with upgrades that include whole apple slices and higher fruit content. The line is also available as a private-label offering for retailers.
“These are still the Tippin’s pies with the quality we are known for,” Antrup said. “They deliver a new offering for our customers with consumers looking for value in that product area.”
