WASHINGTON, DC — Following a successful partnership in 2022, the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) has opened submissions for the IBIE World Bread Awards USA 2024.

Crafted by The Bread Bakers Guild of America and Retail Bakers of America, the competition will be held Oct. 7-8 at the Washburne Culinary & Hospitality Institute in Chicago.

“The partnership between IBIE and the World Bread Awards was a huge success at IBIE 2022,” said Marissa Sertich Velie, executive director of RBA and IBIE planning committee member. “We’re thrilled to continue this relationship and bring this celebrated competition to Chicagoland bakers during IBIE’s off years.”

The IBIE World Bread Awards offer 15 categories for bakers to demonstrate their skills along with the opportunity to take home specialty awards such as Showstopper (Savory or Sweet), Home Baker and Student Baker.

Entries must be submitted through the official IBIE World Bread Awards website by Sept. 30. A judging period that will evaluate the bread on taste, texture, appearance and overall quality will be conducted Oct. 1-7. Winners will be announced in a ceremony on Oct. 8.
