ARLINGTON, VA — In the week leading up to the Super Bowl, consumers are stocking up on snacks to munch on during the Big Game.

According to data from Circana commissioned by SNAC International, savory snack foods saw a jump in total dollar sales during Super Bowl Week 2023 to $796 million, representing a 29% increase from its 2022 counterpart.

“The week before the Super Bowl is the most important week for the snack food industry,” said Christine Cochran, president and CEO of SNAC International. “Every brand wants to be the go-to Super Bowl snack, just like every fan wants their team to win the Super Bowl.”

Americans consumed 118 million pounds of savory snacks during last year’s Super Bowl. The pounds sold, sales numbers in dollar value and percent increase from 2022 are as follows:

  • Corn chips sold 7 million pounds for $53 million with a 37% change vs. 2022.
  • Tortilla chips sold 36 million pounds for $195 million with a 20.2% change vs. 2022.
  • Potato chips sold 32 million pounds for $216M with a 17.2% change vs. 2022.
  • Pretzels sold 1.3 million pounds for $45M with a 16.8% change vs. 2022.
