PENNSAUKEN, NJ — Puratos US, a global manufacturer of bakery, patisserie and chocolate ingredients, has announced plans to open the first dedicated bakery glaze plant in the US by 2025.

The new plant will be built on the company’s main campus in Pennsauken, NJ, and will add a local presence to its global glaze network, which includes sites in Mexico, Belgium and Italy.

The company expects the US location to strengthen Puratos’ operational capabilities and serve as a regional hub to support customers. The investment underscores Puratos’ commitment to service, supply and sustainability — the facility will have a 100% solar roof, LED lighting and on-site electrical vehicle charging stations.

“The strategic decision to establish a new glaze production site in the United States is in line with Puratos’ strategy to be close to our customers and help them be successful with their businesses,” said Andrew Brimacombe, president of Puratos USA. “This investment addresses a clear and growing market need for local, sustainable supply of egg wash alternatives in the world’s largest bakery market.”

The new facility will fortify the capacity of the company’s Sunset Glaze product, a plant-based and allergen-free egg wash alternative. The state-of-the-art line will have the capability to run packaging formats to support a range of needs, from bag-in-box options to large-scale industrial packaging.

Puratos’ Northeast distribution center, previously housed at this location, will move to a newly purchased 194,000-sq.-ft. building in Pennsauken, NJ, expanding the company’s East Coast operations.

“We’re excited about the opportunities this expansion brings,” Brimacombe said. “As demand for glazed items continues to grow, the investment will further strengthen our ability to support customers across the US with new levels of bakery innovation.”
