NAMA announces new hires and promotions

ARLINGTON, VA — The North American Millers’ Association (NAMA) announced three staff changes that will help strengthen the organization’s legislative, regulatory and international trade capabilities.

Molly Miller steps into the role as VP, regulatory and technical affairs. She will provide oversight to NAMA’s engagement on a variety of issues including food and feed safety, research, biotechnology and worker safety. She will also conduct outreach to federal agencies such as the US Food and Drug Administration as well as industry stakeholders to strengthen relationships for the milling sector.

“After an extensive search to fill this critical role, we are thrilled to welcome Molly to the NAMA team,” said Jane DeMarchi, NAMA president. “She brings valuable experience from throughout the agriculture supply chain that will benefit the milling industry. Continuing our strong working relationship with FDA and other agencies is a top priority for NAMA.”

Stephanie Grunenfelder joins NAMA as international trade consultant. In this role, she will implement the Emerging Markets Grant, which promotes the use of US milled grains, and address trade barriers in Kenya and other neighboring countries. She will also be involved in supporting the milling industry’s involvement in USAID Food for Peace and McGovern-Dole Food for Education Programs.

“Stephanie understands how to navigate the complexity of international markets,” DeMarchi said. “She will help us remain an important partner in food aid programs. The milling industry is proud of the role it plays in combating growing hunger around the world.”

Kim Cooper, who joined NAMA in 2019 as manager, government affairs, was promoted to senior director, government affairs. She will continue to focus on engaging with Congress and other stakeholder organizations to advance NAMA’s mission.

“Kim has shown herself to be an essential part of NAMA’s team. Most recently she was a key advocate for the industry in helping to avert the rail strike,” DeMarchi said. “We are glad to have her expertise on a wide range of issues from appropriations to transportation as we move into the new Congress.”

NAMA is the only national trade association that exclusively represents the interests of the North American wheat, corn, oat, and rye milling industry before Congress, federal agencies and international regulatory bodies. Member companies operate mills in 32 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, representing more than 90% of total industry production capacity.
