TORONTO — Mondelez International has announced the appointment of Karla Schlieper as president of Mondelez Canada, succeeding former president Martin Parent, who will be leaving the company this month.

Schlieper came to the role after a successful in Mondelez Latin America’s Southern Cone region — consisting of Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina — which she began in May 2019. She led a substantial turnaround of the business against a challenging backdrop of the pandemic, a rocky economy and an increasingly demanding business climate.

Schlieper joined the bakery giant in 2013, bringing a hefty amount of experience from other CPG roles in the including senior strategy roles with Unilever and J&F Group in Latin America and Europe. With Mondelez, she has advanced through a number of positions including several director positions for drinks and baked goods in Brazil and throughout the broader Latin American region.

Walter also paid respect to the business efforts from the former president and how he helped the company to grow.
