SAN FRANCISCO — Hero Bread, a bakery specializing in real bread with one to zero net carbs per serving, is expanding the availability of its specialty sandwich roll at Subway into seven new markets.

The food technology and macronutrient defying baking company’s roll was first tested in select Subway locations in October 2021, making its debut in Colorado Springs, Boise, Des Moines and Atlanta. Now, Hero Bread is available in more than 1,600 locations across the New York City metro; The Bay Area; San Diego; Atlanta; both Portland, OR and Portland, ME; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; and Salt Lake City.

The specialty bread can be selected as the bread choice for any Subway sandwich, and each 6-in. serving has 0 grams of sugar, 1 gram of net carbs, 100 calories and 12 grams of protein.
