MISSISSAUGA, ON — Frito-Lay Canada announced a voluntary recall for SunChips Harvest Cheddar Flavor Multigrain Snacks and Munchies Original Snack Mix.

The product recall is the result of a seasoning supplier’s notification that an ingredient supplied by a third party was potentially contaminated with salmonella. While no salmonella was found in the seasoning supplied to Frito-Lay Canada, the company has recalled these products out of an abundance of caution.

Food contaminated with salmonella bacteria does not typically look, smell, or taste spoiled. According to the CDC, anyone can become sick with a salmonella infection. However, infants, children, seniors and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness.

Frito-Lay Canada is working closely with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to ensure the recalled products are removed from the marketplace.

This recall only applies to the specific products and flavors mentioned above. However, the snacks are distributed nationwide, so consumers should check their pantries for any of these products and dispose of them.
