STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO — BAR-U-EAT debuted new Biodegradable Products Institute Certified compostable packaging for its individually wrapped bars.
It is now the first bar company in the world to offer packaging with this certification for the entire package. This step ensures the wrappers can be broken down in commercial compost systems and will not harm the environment.
The packaging is composed of plant-based materials from Forest Stewardship Council Certified sustainably managed forests. It also complies with American Society for Testing and Materials D6400 specifications to be aerobically composted and biodegradable.
In transitioning to this new packaging, BAR-U-EAT is compliant with California’s SB 54 legislation, which requires all packaging in the state to be third party verified recyclable or compostable by 2032.
BAR-U-EAT has a long-standing mission to alter how consumers think about the food they consume and how it’s packaged. The company also believes that food should be free of oils and packaged simply and in a less wasteful manner.
