Avant Food Media hires Jordan Winter as new digital editor

Since 2008, Joanie Spencer has covered the retail and wholesale sides of the baking industry.
Serving associations such as the American Society of Baking (ASB) and BEMA, Joanie is also in demand as an industry presenter on bakery operations and trends. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Rockhurst University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.

When she’s not running or playing soccer, Joanie spends her time with her husband and 11-year-old son.

KANSAS CITY, MO — In response to increased business and digital media needs, Avant Food Media announced that Jordan Winter has joined the Commercial Baking media group as its new digital editor. In this role, Winter will manage all digital and multimedia-related content and projects.

With dual degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Kansas and six years of experience in multimedia content creation, Winter’s passion lies in focusing on uplifting diversity, sustainability and positive social change.

Winter comes to Avant from Bark Media, a Lawrence, KS-based content marketing agency focused on telling the stories of beneficial brands such as B Lab and Bioneers.

Her expertise in targeted audience engagement through social media strategies, email marketing and partner-networking initiatives will position Avant and Commercial Baking for strategic growth in the digital media space.

In addition to email campaigns, newsletters and several new media initiatives, Winter will also be producing the Troubleshooting Innovation podcast with industry expert Dave Van Laar, sponsored by Reading Bakery Systems.
