BETHESDA, MD — Aloft Hotels, a hotel brand in Marriot Bonvoy’s portfolio, has announced new better-for-you breakfast options emphasizing a plant-based menu, on-the-go selections and some sweet treats for sugar lovers.

The new items, which will be implemented through the breakfast program titled “Re:fuel,” will be applied to more than 150 hotels across North America starting in November 2021. It is set to be fully implemented by January 2022.

Jeff Tomczek, VP and global leader, distinctive select brands at Marriott International, told Forbes that although the pandemic was a curveball, it allowed the company to reassess the delivery of a fun breakfast with an emphasis on quality and speed. The pandemic provided the perfect opportunity to revamp the menu and bring some big food trends into play.

One such trend will be plant-based options, such as a breakfast sandwich featuring Beyond Meat breakfast sausage and JUST Egg Folded with savory vegetables on an everything bagel. Other items include a breakfast burrito, a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and more.

The new initiative has allowed for some partnerships between the international hospitality brand and some bakery brands as well. Some baked additions include Funfetti and maple-glazed cinnamon rolls and the Breakfast Biscuit, a homestyle buttermilk biscuit sandwich with pork sausage and egg from Mason Dixie Foods, an Asian-American woman-owned company.
