MINNEAPOLIS — Following consumer demand, General Mills is bringing the fan-favorite La Tiara brand of crispy taco shells back to stores. The CPG company acquired La Tiara in May 2025 with the goal of reviving it and creating more than 100 new jobs.

“We’ve answered the call from an incredibly engaged group of local superfans,” said Meredith Nelson Uram, Mexican business unit director for General Mills. “We’re not just bringing back a cherished product. We’re reigniting a legacy, creating jobs and — for the first time — making the crunch of a La Tiara taco shell available to families across the country. We’re thrilled for the next chapter of La Tiara.”

La Tiara is a brand of thin, crispy corn taco shells and taco seasoning that originated in the Kansas City, MO, area. The brand cultivated a local following over the years, exemplified by the “Please Bring Back La Tiara Taco Shells” public Facebook group with over 20,000 members.

Made with stone-ground masa and available in both yellow and white corn options, the shells will offer the same taste and texture as before. This time around, the brand is offering three new taco seasoning flavors: Chorizo, Tinga and Reduced Sodium.

La Tiara products will be available exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide starting in April.
