Flowers Foods leader appointed BEAG chair

INDIANAPOLIS — The Bakery Equipment Assessment Group (BEAG), part of the American Society of Baking (ASB), will have a new chair this upcoming year.

The organization announced that Jeff Shura, senior VP of engineering and technology at Thomasville, GA-based Flowers Foods, will step into this leadership role in February 2026.

“I’m honored to serve as chair of BEAG and continue the important work of advancing hygienic design standards across the baking industry,” Shura said. “Our focus will be on collaboration, innovation, and ensuring that equipment meets the highest benchmarks for safety and efficiency.”

Shura brings decades of engineering and technology leadership experience to the role. With a background in food industry innovation and operations, he’s poised to support BEAG’s mission of advancing standards and best practices for bakeries.

He succeeds Jeremiah Tilghman, CEO of Better Butter, who has served as BEAG chair with distinction since October 2022. During Tilghman’s tenure, the organization strengthened the promotion of hygienic design and ANSI Z50.2 compliance in the baking industry.

“Together with ASB and our industry partners, we will drive progress that benefits both manufacturers and consumers,” Shura concluded.
