ERIE, CO — The National Honey Board’s annual Honey Saves Hives campaign is returning for its sixth year of supporting honey bees in the food industry and beyond.
Throughout September, also known as National Honey Month, consumers are encouraged to purchase local honey, while bakers and restaurateurs are invited to craft honey-infused dishes.
“When you purchase honey, you are directly supporting a beekeeper and the honey bees in their care,” said Margaret Lombard, CEO of the National Honey Board. “With our Honey Saves Hives campaign, we are underscoring the incredible connections between honey consumption, beekeepers and the honey bees that make it all possible.”
During the weekends of Sept. 5 and 19, consumers nationwide will have the opportunity to learn about honey bees and their relationship to the food industry through videos on bakery department screens and in-store demonstrations featuring honey taste tests.
