EAST HANOVER, NJ — OREO is continuing its thread of limited-time innovations with its latest celebrity partnership.
The Mondelez International brand teamed up with Selena Gomez to develop a sweet-and-spiced cookie variety inspired by horchata.
“Making my own OREO cookie was a lot of fun. I grew up loving them, so being able to be a part of the process was a full-circle moment,” Gomez said. “I wanted to find a way for it to feel comforting and have a bit of nostalgia from my childhood. The cinnamon flavor gives it this horchata feel, and I’m excited for my fans to try it.”
The new limited-time product includes two creme layers — one chocolate and cinnamon flavored and the other sweetened condensed milk flavored with cinnamon sugar inclusions — sandwiched between chocolate cinnamon wafers.
The cookies include six embossments inspired by the singer and her fan base. Among them is Gomez’ signature, marking the first time OREO has placed an autograph on a cookie.
US consumers can preorder the Limited Edition Selena Gomez Cookies on the OREO website beginning June 2 or pick up the new product in retailers nationwide on June 9.
The collab will also be available internationally, hitting retailers in Canada and Brazil on June 9 and reaching Australia and New Zealand on June 17.
“Tapping into Selena’s world — her cultural roots, her loyal fan base, her musical journey — propels the OREO brand’s cultural relevance and playful personality to new heights,” said Michelle Deignan, VP, OREO, US. “The OREO brand is constantly discovering new parts of itself through creative and unexpected innovations. This collaboration embodies our commitment to delighting our consumers in unexpected ways and further establishes our footprint in the music industry.”
At the start of the year, OREO partnered with Post Malone on a limited release featuring the cookie brand’s first swirled creme.
