BRANTFORD, ONTARIO — Ferrero Group has been a fundamental part of Ontario’s manufacturing sector for nearly two decades. As the largest employer in the city of Brantford, Ferrero is expanding on this production with a $445 million investment for an upgraded facility.

The site will support new product development — including the company’s first launch of a new product outside of Europe — and create 500 new jobs in Brantford. The investment will expand the regional workforce to more than 1,800 employees and drive dedicated efforts to sourcing key ingredients and packaging materials within Ontario.

“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the province and the city of Brantford, which recognizes the invaluable contributions of the food industry,” said Eric Houdet, senior VP, Canada Industrial, Brantford plant, Ferrero Canada. “This investment and hundreds of new employees will bolster the local economy and help us bring amazing treats to more people around the world.”

With the facility’s advanced robotics to digitize production and improve overall output, the investment allows Ferrero’s production capabilities and capacity to increase significantly. The expansion also supports the development of new production lines for the company’s Nutella Biscuits, which had previously never been manufactured beyond its European location.

“This is another important milestone in Ferrero’s history,” said Omar Zausa, president of Ferrero Canada. “This expansion represents a commitment to Ferrero’s tremendous momentum in the region and will strengthen our manufacturing capabilities and supply chain. This investment will also accelerate the growth of our Nutella and Ferrero Rocher power brands, further solidifying our presence in stores.”
