RIDGEFIELD, NJ — Toufayan Bakeries, one of the oldest privately owned bakeries in the US, has experienced growth driven by consumer interest in the company’s new keto line of pita, wraps and flatbread. This increased interest has led to robust sales and increased distribution nationwide in retailers such as Food Lion, Stop & Shop and ShopRite, as well as more than 1,300 Publix and 1,000 Walmart stores.
The keto diet focuses on low-carb and high-protein foods, and it has a loyal following as some individuals benefit from potential weight management and other health boons. In fact, according to the International Food Information Councill, the number of people following a ketogenic diet has doubled since 2018.
“At Toufayan Bakeries, we are committed to staying ahead of consumer trends and providing great tasting products that align with a wide variety of dietary preferences,” said Karen Toufayan, VP of marketing at Toufayan Bakeries. “The popularity of the keto diet presented an exciting opportunity for us to meet the evolving needs of our consumers.”
Toufayan took note of the demand and expanded its product portfolio to connect to this emerging market. The baking company took its keto product line from concept to market in less than four months, a nod to the company’s commitment to innovation.
“We understand the importance of staying ahead of consumer trends and are constantly exploring new ways to create products that exceed their expectations and support our retail partners,” said Paul Constantino, VP of sales at Toufayan Bakeries.
