CRAILSHEIM, GERMANY — Gerhard Schubert, founder and shareholder of packaging machine manufacturer Schubert, passed away on July 4. He was 84 years old.
Gerhard Schubert GmbH was founded in 1966 and became one of the most innovative and successful companies in the international packaging machine manufacturing industry. Schubert’s visionary ideas of modular packaging technology continue to influence modern technology to this day.
In 1953, Schubert laid the foundation for the packaging company with an apprenticeship as a mechanic. Over the years, he gathered experience as a design engineer at the Strunck and Kugler companies before opening his own engineering and design office in 1964.
Over several decades, Schubert’s pioneering and down-to-earth spirit built the small company into an international group of companies and took the family business to the forefront of the world’s packaging manufacturers. His sons, Ralf and Gerald Schubert, and the next generation of grandchildren are now working in the company.
